Dirt Day
Announce a Dirt Day for school. Make sure the children wear clothes that can get dirty. Provide spades, shovels, watering cans, buckets, aluminum pie tins, magnifying glasses, cups, small pile of rocks, and a large area of exposed soil. Let the children dig and just play in the soil. Make great mud pies with lots of soil, water, and an aluminum pie tin.
Examine the soil with a magnifying glass. Make mud paintings and eat mud pie snacks.
