Bee Snacks
Honeybees: Honeybunch Balls
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup honey
- 3/4 cup sunflower seeds
- 1 package of cocoa mix (1oz)
- 1 cup shredded coconut
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 3/4 cup raisins
- 3/4 cup granola
Mix sunflower seeds, cocoa, raisins, and granola in a mixing bowl. Add the peanut butter and honey and mix thoroughly. Give each child a heaping teaspoonful of the mixture to roll into a ball. Coat each ball by rolling in coconut.
Busy Buzzers
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/3 cup nonfat dry milk
- 1 tablespoons sesame seed
- 2 tablespoons toasted wheat germ
- Sliced almonds
- Unsweetened cocoa powder
Mix together the peanut butter and the honey. Stir in the nonfat dry milk, sesame seeds, and wheat germ until well mixed. Lay a piece of wax paper on the table and shape a teaspoonful of dough into a bee-shaped oval.
Dip a toothpick into the cocoa powder and press it gently across the top of the bee to make stripes. Use the sliced almonds for wings. Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Recipe makes approximately 28 bees.
Bees and Butterflies
Ingredients:
- Flower
- Nectar
- Juice
Make flower petals from tissue paper and attach them to paper cups. Fill the cups with juice. Have the children use straws to sip their nectar just like the bees.
