Catch the Wind

Catch the Wind

Materials

  • plastic newspaper bags or produce bags
  • stickers
  • yarn (cut into 8” lengths), 2 pieces per child
  • craft stick
  • scissors
  • tape

The children can’t see the wind but they can prove that it’s there by going outside and catching the wind. Each child decorates a plastic newspaper bag with seasonal stickers.

Help them find the open end of the bag. They can use scissors to make a slit on each side of the opening. (You will need to pre-punch the holes for the younger children.) Help them tie the ends of the yarn to each side of the bag. They then tape the strings onto a craft stick.

Go outside to catch the wind. The children can hold the sticks and turn to discover from which direction the wind is blowing. Then they’ll want to run and play with their wind catcher.
