Groundhog Hat
Materials
- brown construction paper
- red construction paper (cut in strips)
- small black circles
- small white circles
- white paper squares to make teeth
- oaktag patterns
- sticker eyes
- glue sticks
- black washable markers
- scissors
For younger children pre-cut the pieces. Older children can trace around oaktag patterns.
Give each child a groundhog head shape.
Ask the child to stick on the eyes.
Then help the child use a glue stick to add a nose, and teeth. They can then use a marker to draw the ears and smile.
The child can make dots with the marker to decorate around the nose and mouth.
Make a headband for the child by sizing the red strips to the child’s head. Use the stapler to join the strips.
Either glue or staple the head to the headband.
Take a groundhog tail and glue or staple it to the back of the headband.
