Bat bodies cut out of thick, black paper. Wings cut out of black construction paper.
Show children how to draw bat fingers on the wings with white crayon. Explain that much of a bat’s skeleton is like a human skeleton, and the wings are like our hands with skin between really long fingers. Draw eyes on the head. Explain that bats are not blind, as many people think.
Staple wings on to bat bodies.
Turn the lights off and let the students fly their bats around the room. When the light comes on, they need to find a place on the wall for their bat to hang upside down and sleep.
