Nature Tales is a once a month story time program provided by Woodbury County Conservation Board and Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center.

Tails by Matthew Yan Fleet
Read story and look at furs of animals. Discuss how each animal uses its tail and compare them to an object.
Beaver = paddle
Squirrel = flag
Skunk = warning sign
Fox = blanket
Deer = flag signal
Woodpecker = kick stand
Craft: Beaver Tails
Cut a beaver tail shape out of brown paper. Have the kids color and decorate their own tails. Tie yarn on each side of the tail. The children can wear them around their waist.
Hike
Look for animals and animal signs like a beaver chew on a short hike.
