Nature Tales: Winter & Animals

Nature Tales: Winter & Animals

Nature Tales is a once a month story time program provided by Woodbury County Conservation Board and Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center.

Books

Christmas Song of the North by Marsha Bonicatto
Winter Lullaby by Barbara Seuling

Craft: Snow Trees

Each child decorated a pre-cut pine tree outline with animals. Stamps or pre-cut foam shapes of a grouse, raccoon, mouse, rabbit, owl, and squirrel were used. Snow was added to the trees by painting glue on the tree and sprinkling it with Ivory Snow laundry soap.

Observation

Due to cold weather and icy/ snowy trails we did not hike this month. We observed animals at the bird feeders and counted how many different animals we could find. We saw turkeys, squirrels, chickadees, nuthatches, and woodpeckers.
