Volcanoes
Materials
- Empty film canisters
- Baking soda
- Vinegar
- Red food coloring
- Preferably an outdoor space where children can make a volcano in the soil
Fill half of the film canisters with baking soda. Have the children create their own volcano in the sand box, a patch of soil, or playground mulch. Pile up the soil/sand/mulch around the film canister. Give each child another film canister filled with red colored vinegar. Slowly pour the vinegar on the baking soda and watch the volcanoes bubble.
